If anyone here has been to the official TES forums, you would know that most of them greatly hate fable. Some hate it not because it is a bad game per se, it's just that it is brought up too often in comparison. Of course, some fanboyism kicks in, they think Morrowind is the superior RPG evar, and nothing can compare to it.
Personally, I think it [Fable] IS a good game, as RPG's go. I like the leveling system, and The dark side/light side meter Comparable to KoToR. Fable has things that Morrowind doesn't. Such as marrying people, sex, graphics, spell animations.
But it does lack some highly important features. such as the feeling of free-form. There is no exploring, it is limited to pathways that you must go on. Money is very limited, you can only get the most out of quests, and you only get to rent the most expensive house near the end of the game. (And even that only adds up to 3600 gold.) It also lacks diversity of weaponry. Theres only about 5 weapon classes, and not many weapons themselves. In morrowind, there is a nord leg you can use as a weapon. How cool is that?
Discuss.

I think Fable was fun while it lasted, which for me was about 5 days. I like the combat setup and the spells were all unique unlike Morrowind everyspell uses the same hand gesture. But fable does lack Free roam (as Commander said) but the graphics were supirior and NPC felt more real.
Morrowind wins because it never ends unlike Fable in which when you finish the game it can only be used as a paper-weight.

Well, the Serious board is under the General catagory, and since this discussion fits with the true theme of this forum, then it should go here.

the thing with fable is the fact that it is, like most RPGs, more concerned with making the fighting intresting then adding depth to the game ( Morrowind is the opposite). When it comes down to it, Fable seems more like a Hack'n'Slash game then an RPG. For action and graphics, Fable is better, but considering the fact morrowind is 4 years older and the story is more in depth, i prefer it.

yeah, fable is kinda a hack and slash, but for the quests, skills, aging and such....
it's an RPG.

I do like the aging idea, but I prefer that to stay out of the TES games. I do however wish they would implement a dark side/light side thing. That all kinds of cool.

you'd be 1000 by the time you were to finish morrowind

THat's why I specified that.
And i did like how the spells worked. In morrowind, having 40 or so spells, it was tiresome to scroll through them all. In battle, it really sucks. so going to the menu and scrolling through them all, wasting 5 minutes...
Well, that was a flaw.

yeah, but there was a nice variety.
it would be great if if youw ere a mage, you would automaticly gain magic spells. if you were a fighter, you'd gain strength skills, rogue gets sneaking skills, etc.

It already does things like that. As a mage, when you choose certain spell skills as a major/minor attribute, it gives you n00b spells to start with for that attribute.

not n00b spells, but gradual spells.
