]This RP begins as a short story I finished writing a some time ago. Read it all, then look at my orange notes after the story has finished.
His great sword shines a magnificent light; a large shadow was cast above his enemy. Everyone cowers in fear over his might. His sword represents the mighty choice he made, and the flames. Oh, the flames. The fire reveals on the ground and buildings behind the large figure of the warrior. The flames from his mouth seem to scorch his own teeth, but seeing his enemies fall aflame make up for it. The Great dragon, Usrieg!
“Wake up, Usrieg. You are daydreaming again!” Usrieg woke up on his home porch with a wide, cute yawn. In reality, Usrieg is a small, 7 year old red dragon. He is a sweet little guy, always looking for ways to help. But as small as he is, he had a big dream; to be a hero.
“You forgot our parent’s anniversary again!” announced Retses, his sister. She is at the same age, and color, but with a brighter tint. “This is the third time. Lucky for you, the day is still young.”
“Agh! What can I do?!”
“There is still time. Go do some nice deeds around town, and I’ll gather up something from your room for Mom and Dad. Surely there is something in there to make up for your forgetfulness in the past years,” Usrieg agreed and wandered off his porch steps. The small town of Emoh was a peaceful place. Emoh hasn’t changed at all for years, with farms placed around it, and the oh-so popular tavern. Even dragons have civilization, and humans are just recently accepting them, letting them live in their towns peacefully.
“Eh, what do I do?” Usrieg was left clueless. He then heard a faint giggling around two houses down. Well, that wouldn’t make it very faint, would it? He wandered on over in interest, accepting the friendly ‘Hello’s’ given by the bystanders. He peeked behind the house, and saw a couple fondling in affection. The man saw Usrieg, and his face went blank; lifeless. “Aren’t you married to…?” Usrieg asked, confused.
“Please kid; don’t say anything to the misses. Sometimes, eh, men have to escape, you know?” Usrieg was still confused. This put him in a difficult morale position. If he refused to tell the wife, he might get in some trouble. If he does tell, he may ruin this mans life.
“…I’ll say nothing,” Usrieg said, ashamed.
“Thank you, little guy!”
Surprisingly, this event didn’t weigh too heavily on Usrieg, not much more than he felt already anyway. Not being sure if that was a good deed or not, he went and searched around the town.
He came across a friendly merchant, also in need of assistance.
“Hey bud, there is a small task that needs to be done, and I can’t leave my post right at the moment.”
“Mm?” Usrieg shyly replied.
“some of my fellow traders are sick, and they setup camp right outside town to reduce risk. It doesn’t make much sense to me, because the wind was known to carry plague. But it would nice if you could hurry along and help them out.”
“And you want me?”
“Well, dragons like yeh have a bit of a higher resistance, don’t yeh? Here’s a few gold to get a move along, would be mighty fine of yeh.”
“Usrieg saw the negative side of most things, but accepted anyway. As he walked to the potion shop, he just examined his surroundings. It all seemed so happy, but for some reason he felt so dark. His teenage years are ment to come, what would he have to worry about in his young years? He bought his potions, and wandered back outside town, taking his time. He shyly handed over the potions. The traders were a bit surprised, not expecting anyone to come so soon.
“Thank yee, little guy. Run on back into town and tell our boss we’ll be fine.” Usrieg simply replied with a short “Mm.”
Usrieg was thinking if there was anything else to do. He did see a woman on a porch, sweeping the leaves off. She looked confused, yet angry. She looked around the entire town, seemed like she was studying the very details of the corners of her eye, so not an event or view can escape her. Usrieg walked up to her slowly, a bit afraid. She saw him immediately, and although he is still seven years old, she began blasting “Where is that blasted husband of mine?!” Not directed towards Usrieg, but to any bystanders as well. He did mention the man he saw behind that house, hoping to redeem his falso thought of protecting him. She was grateful, yet still angry. Usrieg was glad he made one life happy, but he just killed another.
Part 2:
Usrieg walked to his house and saw Retses standing at the doorway, she had a disappointed look on her.
“Eh?” Usrieg asked, bracing himself.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been doing. I had a small vision of you. Meddling in private affairs,” She scowled. Usrieg just bowed his head in shame.
“Nonetheless, that one bad deed is fixed by three better ones.”
“Three?”
“Yes!” She smiled. “Taking our mother this silver necklace, I think it used to be our grandmothers. Not sure what you were doing with it, but here…” Usrieg raised his head and saw a bright smile from Retses.
“Where is she? I’ll take it to her straight away!”
“She’s in her private garden down the road, I’ll bet she isn’t expecting you.”
He found her kneeling down, still planting some flowers she had already gotten as presents. She looked up with a normal smile, surprised but not shaken.
“Hello mother, I remembered your anniversary this year,” Usrieg said, proud of himself. For a few minutes at least, the darkness of his thoughts left him.
“Oh sweety, you didn’t really have to. Your don’t need the responsibility of such things.” And with the necklace in her hand, the smile given to him was her last. An arrow shot from behind her went straight through her heart. The necklace she had was no dangling from the tip of the arrow. Usrieg didn’t have much time to react, so he quicly grabbed the necklace and glanced behind his mother’s dead body. Down the road, a large team of bandits stood, not even charging yet. Usrieg quickly dived behind the nearby garden fence, hiding behind the thick roots and plants. Not second after, he felt the rumbling of the ground and heard a loud battle cry. And it was behind the fence, he stayed.
It seemed like hours, but it took only minutes for Emoh to be burned onto the ground. The bandits couldn’t have gotten much out of burning a tiny town such as Emoh. Or were they practicing for a bigger plan?
Most of these thoughts went through Usrieg’s mind, and finally looked over the fence. The bandits were long gone, and Emoh was wiped from the map completely, it seemed. Nothing was left other than the burning piles of rubble.
Usrieg stood back up, but all feeling in his legs were nearly gone, and he almost fell over. He saw his mother dead in a small pool of blood. He glanced back at the necklace in his hand, now dripping with his sweat. He thought the necklace somehow was cursed, but he would not submit himself to such superstition.
“Fear not for your family,” A young, yet deep voice said from behind him.
He turned around to see who it was, and he saw a strangely young wizard. His voice wasn’t old, but he was mature and wise. He replied to Usrieg’s strange, bewildered look with an “Ello.” Usrieg just looked at him even stranger. “Follow me, child.” They began walking outside the town. “I am head of the Hero’s guild, not too far from here. You have great potential in you I can see. And seeing as you have no home, and currently no known family, it is a place that would suit you.”
“Eh, and how old are you?”
“Ignore my youth. The last Guildmaster met an untimely death, thus I was appointed. Usrieg asked no further questions as they headed into the Guild.
The next ten years, Usrieg stayed devoted to the Guild, lusting for revenge. He was a 17 year old teenage dragon now, with a will to investigate, explore, and accuse. He loves to wonder around the Guild library, opening his mind to knowledge.
Heh. anyone who has played the Xbox game Fable will probably recognize some of this. That's where I got this idea, but much of it is different.
***The only real possible characters you can use is fellow guild members, mostly teenagers. I'm sure you guys shouldn't have too much a problem with that. I will RP guards, the guildmaster, etc. This RP will be more open ended, rather than just going through one particular scene.
