Beginning notes:
1)This was taken and edited around from varies forums and posts including Forumsector. *Gave credit*
2) Now, this isn't saying that none of you can debate, but perhaps this may be helpful to future members and even those experianced may learn something.
1.) Getting Your Debate Idea to be a Thread:
Make sure something similar hasn't already be made. And hopefully you don't post anything too common. And remember to respect other's views.
2.) Following the Other Forum Rules
Have some common sense, this is a debate forum and is still part of this place.
3.) Read Every Post:
Before posting your opinion on a debate, make sure you have read every post by every member. You SHOULD do so in every forum but the fact of the matter is not everybody does so. Please take the extra effort to actually read what's going on, so you have an idea of where the conversation lays when you make your post. Not doing so is the equivilency of entering a conversation and speaking out of nowhere.
4.) Punctuation and Grammar:
Please, this is the Debate Forum. Take the extra seconds to properly end your sentences with periods, and try to capitalize the proper words. No one enjoys reading a half a page of posts that are a continuous sentence and have no punctuation. Make an attempt to spell correctly but it's understandable if you aren't a good speller.
5.) Don't try to use big words to justify your point.
People can often see through this; it's really a poor defense.
Make your arguements readable and understandable.
Don't go looking through dictionary.com to flower up your speech and to sound more intelligent.
6.) Do not constantly refer to "God" on every debate.
This can and will annoy a lot of people.
For athiests this is usually a major pet peave.
You cross the line from just "believing" into "preaching" and that's a no-no.
7.) Try not to curse during debates.
This is also a very bad thing to do; it makes you look very bad.
Example: You're so ******* wrong, just stop posting here *******.
Don't do it..
Cursing is ok sometimes but not in the debate area.
8.) Try to see the idea from both points of views.
This should already be common sense but it does need to be said.
Try not to be a knuckle-head
Then again the fanatics do make good debate flame as they keep debates going with the inablity to accept other points of views
