***UPDATE**: The new words for "Exalt and Smite" Are now "Bless" And "Curse" A little downgraded vocabulary, but simpler. I like simplicity (Hell, I'm using proboards. About as simple as boards can get.)
I'm assuming by other forum's I've been to, you see an "Exalt" And "Smite" button under some people.
Well, lets look those up, shall we?
Exalt: To raise in rank, character, or status; elevate: exalted the shepherd to the rank of grand vizier. To glorify, praise, or honor.
So, that gives +1 Karma to one.
Smite: To inflict a heavy blow on, with or as if with the hand, a tool, or a weapon. To drive or strike (a weapon, for example) forcefully onto or into something else.
Therefore, It may give -1 to someone.
The reason for this, well, it's obvious. Who would you trust more, someone with a +12 Karma, Exalted by 12 different people for good deeds... Or someone with a -7, with like, 30 posts or something. I'd go with the 12. I would definatly have shift eyes towards someone with a -20 karma.
Trust and Respect is a large thing around here. You can hate someone's guts, but you MUST respect them. whether or not they are new.

could you possibly find a code that changes the words from "exalt" and "smite" and "karma"? because people may not know exactly what karma means, and they may not feel like reading this. maybe you could change the words from karma to respect, exalt to raise, and smite to lower?
just a suggestion. =)

Don't think I can, but I may look it up. But that's what this thread is for, to define those two words so people will get it.

Or Zanmato Designs. That's also an alternate. And I follow the rules too as well.
